1960s: Manutan is founded

In 1966, as France was undergoing economic reconstruction, André and Jean-Pierre Guichard founded Manutan, the first French catalog retailer of industrial equipment to list product prices.

It was a bold entrepreneurial venture, driven by a desire for independence and a strong conviction: to offer businesses practical solutions to help them work more effectively.

The venture was already based on a simple idea: doing business differently.

1970s: Manutan takes off

Despite the oil crises and economic uncertainties, the business model proved successful. The company grew, expanded internationally, and laid the groundwork for its European expansion.

The collective became a driving force. The entrepreneurial spirit remained intact.

1980s: The Manutan Group takes shape

The Group continues to expand in Europe. It is growing, going public and restructuring its organisation, all while preserving its family-owned heritage.
Growth and organisation have become the pillars of a more robust business model.

1990s: Manutan Group gains momentum

With the development of the European Union and the rise of digital technology, the Group expanded to a new scale.

The acquisition of Overtoom in 1995 marked a major strategic turning point. The first digital initiatives were launched. The business model evolved.

Manutan thus became a recognised European player in B2B commerce.

2000s: The Manutan Group undergoes a transformation

The launch of the first e-commerce sites in 2001 marked the beginning of the transition to B2B e-commerce.

Despite economic crises, the Group continues to expand through external growth and strengthens its presence among businesses, local authorities and the education sector.

Transformation has become a constant driver of growth.

2010s: Manutan Group clarifies its strategy

In the face of environmental and societal challenges, the Group is shaping its vision.

It has set a clear goal: to balance economic performance with a positive impact.

CSR is fully integrated into the strategy.
Performance metrics are expanding.
The model is being unified and consolidated.

2020s: Manutan holds its ground and grows

The COVID-19 pandemic is accelerating changes in the world of work and commerce.

The Group is demonstrating its resilience, strengthening its European presence, and has decided to delist from the stock exchange.

Strategic acquisitions, circular economy services and digital transformation: Manutan continues on its growth trajectory while remaining true to its family-owned, independent roots and surpasses the €1 billion mark in revenue.

2030s: The future of Manutan Group
